Defending the Vineyard

Nearly everything known to mankind will try to destroy your vineyard. You must be ever vigilant to these threats. An excellent vineyard is one that is being defended year round.


Weeds

Weeds in the vineyard is not life threating but can negatively impact your grape quantity and quality. This section will cover the different methods of controlling weeds. We will also include a section on Herbicides and how to effectively apply them.


Funguses

In Tennessee there are a variety of funguses that can severely damage your vineyard. These funguses are effectively managed with a variety of chemical sprays applied in a timely manner and with the appropriate safeguards. This section will cover disease identification, selecting the appropriate chemical for each funguses, examples of spray regemines, vineyard sprayers, calibrating sprayers, as well as partial list of sprays contained in this section.


Insects

In Tennessee there are many insects in Tennesse that can severly impact your vineyard. This section will cover how to identify insects and the different methods by which they can be controlled. [UNDER CONSTRUCTION}


Vertibrates

This would include deer, birds, raccoons or any other animals that has a spinal column. They will eat the leaves and or the grapes. It is not uncommon to loose 100% of your crop to vertibrates. There are many forms of defenses, such as fencing, netting, deterrents, and other measures that we will cover in this section. [UNDER CONSTRUCTION}


Weather

The weather is an important topic when talking about defending your crop. Frost is the most common danger but moisture and the sun can be very harsh on tender plants and grapes. This section will cover how these factors and their influence on your vineyard can be minimized. [UNDER CONSTRUCTION}
